Wine tasting notes

Pale straw with green-tinged hues, it displays mineral notes of oyster shell, with lemon peel and citrus oil viscosity. An excellent spine of ripe lime acidity and palate length promise classic honeyed notes in maturity; with lemongrass, snow pea, artichoke and mandarin.

Expert reviews

Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (2014) - 87 pts

Just beginning to show hints of toasty development, the 2014 Brokenback Vineyard Semillon is the winery's current release. Struck flint notes complement toast and citrus rind aromas on the nose, while the light-bodied palate offers delicate green apple and citrus elements. It's pretty enough but just seems to lack a bit of intensity and length.

James Halliday (2014) - 95 pts

Has taken the first steps towards the full spectrum of flavours that will emerge over the coming years, its promise underlined by the length of its finish and aftertaste. It's a weird world in which to suggest that 11% alcohol may be pushing the upper limit, but it does mark the difference between this wine and its younger sibling. That it's done the wine no harm is self evident in the points.
