Wine tasting notes

Sardinia's best known white, this golden coloured, dry wine is herbal and aromatic, displaying light almond flavours and a fresh well balanced finish.

Expert reviews

Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (2016) - 86 pts

When I tasted this wine, the nose was slightly shut down and never fully opened to its fullest potential. The 2016 Vermentino di Sardegna Cala Silente shows drying mineral tones and touches of flint or granite stone. There is a very thin veil of white peach and citrus at the back. Considering the otherwise vibrant nature of this grape, the effect here is straightforward and lean with reduced overall intensity.

Vinous/Antonio Galloni (2016) - 91 pts

Dark straw-yellow. Intense notes of anise, rosemary and sage complicate crushed rocks and licorice. Fresh hints of cut grass and more licorice add complexity to the apricot and peach flavors. Finishes long, with a youthfully chewy note. The 2016 vintage strikes me as being an especially good one for Cala Silente. -- Ian D'Agata

James Suckling (2016) - 87 pts

A white with sliced apple and apricot character. Full body. Medium body. A little short.
