Expert reviews

Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (2013) - 91 pts

June 2014. Reviewer : Lisa Perrotti-Brown. - Beautifully scented of warm peaches, guava and honeysuckle with an undercurrent of allspice and lychees, the full-bodied 2013 Viognier shows good concentration of spiced stone fruit and tropical flavors and has a pleasantly silky texture and long finish.

Vinous/Antonio Galloni (2007) - 91 pts

Sep/Oct 08. By Josh Raynolds. Vivid yellow-gold. Textbook varietal aromas of white peach, white flowers, honey and minerals. Fresh and spicy, offering juicy citrus and pit fruit flavors, along with nervy minerality and late-arriving white pepper. This precise, complex viognier finishes with impressive lift and thrust.

JancisRobinson.com (2015) - 16.5 pts

Butter, sweet spice, apricot and lemon juice – quite precise and zippy but still has the stone-fruit notes of Viognier, and a full texture too. Just a little lick of oak on the finish. (RH)

Wine Spectator (2008) - 90 pts

Issue: Jun 30, 2011. A bright and lively white, not a big style, but focused and vibrant, with pear, floral and apricot flavors that linger impressively. Drink now. ?HS.

James Suckling (2015) - 93 pts

Some very attractive peach and ripe apricot fruit here, really pure, fresh and fragrant. The palate is bright and concentrated, really saturated with peach fruit flavor and apricot too. Full, soft and fleshy texture; a riot of flavor. Drink now.

James Suckling (2016) - 92 pts

A dense and solid white with sliced apple, pear and lemon character. Medium body. Drink now.

James Halliday (2016) - 95 pts

Estate-grown 17yo (Yarra Yering clone planted '99) and 30yo (the original plantings) vines, two-thirds whole bunch-pressed, the remainder given 24 hours skin contact prior to pressing, wild-fermented in predominantly 600l demi-muids, matured for 11 months in oak. The vinification is a triumph. It not only avoids oily phenolics, it gives the wine real texture and structure, yet doesn't obliterate varietal character. If there were more viogniers like this I might change my view its sole purpose should be co-fermentation with shiraz.

Wine Front (2016) - 91 pts

Straw-yellow in colour. Plenty of punch, plenty of spice. Viognier a’go’go. Turns fine and more towards elegance on the finish but the power and personality of the palate does not fade quickly.
