This is a real treat of a wine, and, though it can stand up to robust stew and game, perhaps the best way to offset its glory and enjoy it is with a roast of the finest beef or lamb joint you can find. It is also a classic partner for sharp cheddar. Avoid cream sauces and anything too spicy or salty.

Description

Janicis Robinson - 16.5 Points

Sweet, leathery and spicy on the nose, very cassis and jam with hints of liquorice and strawberry laces. Glossy and unctuous on the palate, this is unashamedly ripe and powerful, with a great depth of lightly raisined black fruit. Despite this, there is a real cut of acidity, which should help this age in bottle. Sweet cherry cola on the finish. - Tom Parker MW
