Wine tasting notes

Chenin Blanc is South Africa's most widely planted varietal and the Cape's signature white. This fresh, vibrant version offers luscious flavors of tropical fruit, melon and honeyed pear, backed by bright citrus flavors. Lively peppery notes and an underlying mineral character shine through on the finish.

eRobertParker.com #215 Oct 2014 - Neal Martin - The 2013 Chenin Blanc is more expressive than the Sauvignon Blanc with attractive undergrowth, waxy aromas coming through. The palate is well-balanced with orange zest and peachy notes, with a finish that is clean and armed with commercial appeal.

May/June '13 by Stephen Tanzer - Pale greenish yellow. Citrus and mint aromas accented by flowers and pepper. Round and slightly sweet (five grams per liter r.s.), but with sound acidity giving shape to the flavors of melon, honey and green pepper. A touch of oak adds complexity. This crowd-pleasing, aggressively priced chenin should be flexible at the dinner table.

There’s a pleasing ripeness to this wine, with attractive aromas and flavors of toasted apple skin, sweet orange and melon rind. Clean and brisk on the close with a nice acidic cut to the medium-weight mouth. A readily available, well-made value; drink now. — L.B. (3/1/2012)

Bright, ripe stone & tropical fruit, 2013 hint of tinned pineapple, fresh, fullish & soft.

Vinification Notes

Grapes were sourced from select vineyard sites in Stellenbosch, Paarl and Swartland, characterized by soils of Table Mountain sandstone and decomposed Dolomite granite. Approximately 70% of the vines are low-yielding dry farmed bush vines, with anaverage age of 20+ years. A small component hails from 54 year old bush vines
