The 2012 Clare Valley vintage has widely been described as one of the best in the last decade. The mainly dry conditions, warm days and cool nights slowed down the ripening process and allowed all the Cabernet parcels to achieve optimal flavour accumulation. Appearance - Inky red in colour with youthful crimson hues Nose - Lifted notes of cassis, cedary oak, cigar box and earthen spices seamlessly combine on the nose Palate - The fully ripened yet elegantly proportioned palate, superbly blends the combined flavours of cassis, chocolate, smokey French oak and finely grained tannins in a satisfying and lingering finish
Kilikanoon was founded in 1997 when winemaker and proprietor Kevin Mitchell purchased the property of the same name in the hamlet of Penwortham in South Australia
Selected parcels of fruit were hand harvested from two 42 year old vineyards in the Leasingham sub region of the valley, before traditional vinifi cation, basket pressing and 18 months maturation in a combination of seasoned and new French oak hogsheads.
