Wine tasting notes

The red grape variety Kotsifali is indisputably a classic of the vineyard of Crete. Spices and red fruits with an elegant mouthfeel and a piquant aftertaste are the characteristics of the wine which is produced from vineyards situated at 500m. altitude. Clear ruby colour with light shades of garnet. Intense and persistent aroma with notes of red fruits with an elegant mouthfeel and a piquant aftertaste are the characteristics of the wine. Dry on the palate, warm, lightly tannic but very harmonious.

Mid crimson. Lifted, dusty, almost earthy, red-cherry fruit even though it smells youthful and vibrant. Really scented on the nose and palate with juicy, fresh and zesty dark-red fruit snd a touch of wild herbs, of the dry landscape Firm, lightly chalky tannins, plenty of acidity but all in great balance for a thirst-quenching and original red. Some might find it a little too tannic on its own at this stage but the fruit sings and I'd happily drink it with a snack or supper. (JH)

A luscious nose of chocolate-covered cherries and black pepper start this delicious Kostifali from one of Crete's wine champions. On the palate, ample flavors of black cherry, cocoa and soft spices give the wine equal parts heft and finesse. This wine has more aging life in it but is excellent now.
