Dec 2015 by Jeb Dunnock - While the Les Granilites functions as the mid-tier Saint Joseph Blanc, the quality of this cuvee continues to soar and it stands up to most other estate's top white. The 2014 Saint Joseph Blanc les Granilites is a head turner, and along with the 2013, the best vintages of these cuvee made. Checking in as 100% Marsanne and raised in equal parts demi-muids (two to three years in age) and stainless steel, it offers medium-bodied richness and beautifully integrated acidity to go with ample sautéed citrus, quince, charcoal and caramelized stone fruit. Drink this seriously good white anytime over the coming 5-7 years.

Pale gold. Lively, mineral-accented citrus and orchard fruits on the intensely perfumed nose, complicated by a sexy jasmine nuance. Shows impressive concentration as well as vibrancy; ripe tangerine and pear flavors stretch out nicely with air. The floral element returns on the nervy, sharply focused finish, which hangs on with excellent focus and tenacity. -- Josh Raynolds (2014)16.5 pts

Tasted Nov 2015 - Deep greenish gold. Fresh and tense. Exciting and lively. Even if not for the very long term. Sweet finish.

Vinification Notes

Temperature controlled fermentation in concrete vats, using indigenous yeasts. 4 weeks maceration was carried out, followed by malo-lactic fermentation in cask. Matured for 10 months in barrel, with the lees stirred up during the first 2 months.
