Based in the famous Coonawarra wine region in South Australia Majella Wines are regarded as one of the regions finest red wine makers.
Fourth generation Coonawarra farmers, George and Pat Lynn, established Majella in 1968. Fruit had been prominently sold to premium, local producers, but on the whole Majella now reserves the best parcels for their wines.
Located on the prime cigar strip of red earth in Coonawarra, Majella is know for its premium wines and vineyard sites. Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot are the hero grapes joined by little sister Riesling. The Malleea is the top flight wine; a traditional Cabernet Shiraz blend.
High tech winemaking equipment drives the winery, and the cellar door benefits from a Stephen Herbert (architect) designed space. The winery is functional and allows for pristine fruit and vibrant flavour to sing through.
Brian 'Prof' Lynn, the effusive, yet self-deprecating voice of Majella Estate would never brag about his accolades but it's clear he has a lot to be proud of. With some fantastic grapes, one of Australia's best winemakers and a state of the art winery, Majella craft some of the finest wines in the country on one of the most revered 'strips of dirt' in the wine world. Bruce Gregory, who made the very first wine for Majella and has made each one ever since, is the inspiration behind one of Australia's finest wines, The Malleea. This flagship wine is a masterpiece which, along with the Majella Cabernet Sauvignon, has entered Langton's Classification of Australia's Best Wines.
