April 2017 - Luis Gutierrez - The 2015 Corralillo Pinot Noir is produced in a fresh and approachable style, with plenty of red fruit and spices. This is done through fermenting the grapes, from their biodynamically farmed vineyards in the Valle del Rosario and Valle Hermoso, in stainless steel and aging the wine in French oak barrels for 11 months. It has a good balance between red fruit and citric notes, very clean and precise, in the house style. The flavors very much reflect what the nose anticipates and the texture is soft, with integrated acidity. Straightforward and easy to understand.

June 2015 - Vivid red. Aromas of musky red berries, dried flowers and cracked pepper, with a subtle hint of earthiness in the background. Tangy and focused on the palate, offering bitter cherry and redcurrant flavors and touch of vanilla. Closes with firm grip and bite, leaving a peppery note behind, but there are no tannins here that I can find.-- Josh Raynolds

May 2015 - Light, fruity and refreshing, with a snappy crispness to dried red berry and cherry flavors. Shows notes of forest floor midpalate, with a finish of cocoa powder and mocha.

A juicy wine with berry and floral character. Medium body, soft tannins. Fruity and fun. Drink now.

Cherry and raspberry aromas are clean and varietally pitch perfect. Plenty of lifting acidity and freshness accompany earthy, spicy flavors of raspberry and red plum that finish peppery, dry and with a note of toasty oak. — M.S. (11/1/2014)

Vinification Notes

The grapes were harvested by hand, and once in the warehouse were cooled and submitted to a strict selection of bunches and berries. After this, the grapes were lowered by gravity into 5 and 8 ton capacity stainless steel tanks, and were cold macerated for seven days at 6ºC. They were fermented with selected yeast for this variety and a group of extraction handling techniques was used in order to achieve a greater complexity and expression from each clone separately. This wine remained in French oak barrels for 11 months, until achieving the evolution of the correct tannins and aromas.
