Wine tasting notes

A young vintage concept which expresses the complexity and richness of the vintage, but with the freshness of a non-vintage champagne. The 2008 vintage is the first to include all five of the different Gimonnet terroirs of the Côte des Blancs, with the largest proportion of grapes sourced from Chouilly Grand Cru and Cuis 1er Cru. A fine mousse with floral and perfumed notes, some spice and soft fruit flavours on the palate. A creamy mouthfeel with crisp acidity on the finish. Expressive, refreshing and perfectly balanced.

Expert Reviews

Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (2008)92 pts #1112 Nov 2012 - Antonio Galloni - The 2008 Brut Chardonnay Premier Cru Cuvee Gastronome is a blend of fruit from Chouilly, Cuis, Cramant, Oger and Vertus. Here the fruit begins to take on slightly greater textural richness and depth. Crisp yellow-fleshed fruits, flowers, almonds and spices are all woven together beautifully. The 2008 stands out for its inner perfume, sweetness and inviting personality.

Nov/Dec 2013 by Josh Raynolds - Green-tinged yellow. Sexy, expansive aromas of poached pear, melon, and peach pit, with smoke and anise notes adding complexity. Spicy, sharply focused orchard and citrus fruit flavors show excellent concentration and pick up a floral nuance with air. Shows a refreshingly bitter quality on the finish, which lingers with impressive, smoky tenacity. (2004)17.5 pts

Tasted Mar 2009 Pale greenish. Smoky nose. Bone dry. Very confident. Well done! Likely to be good value.

Issue Nov 30, 2013 - This floral version is focused and fresh, offering flavors of creamed apple, apricot, pastry cream, fresh ginger and citrus. Light on its feet and elegant, with a subtle finish of ground spice and mineral. Disgorged October 2012. Drink now through 2020.
