Wine tasting notes

Deep, dark fruits and a slight earthiness come through on the complex nose. The palate has soft, velvety tannins and great breadth. The finish is long and complex.

Expert Reviews

Vinous/Antonio Galloni (2012)16 pts

Sept 14 - Bright red. Floral redcurrant and flinty blueberry on the perfumed nose. Juicy, tart flavors of redcurrant, flint and minerals linger nicely through the bright finish. A lovely everyday Chianti. (2012)16.5 pts

Tasted Sept 15 - Smells rich and sweetly fruited. Some oak spice and sweetness. Lovely balance between fruit and savoury flavours and just a touch of leather on the finish. Dry, finely textured tannins. (JH)

Vinification Notes

The fruit was fermented in stainless steel tanks for eight days at approximately 28°C and then underwent a 10 day extended maceration to give the wine more fullness and structure. Post fermentation, the wine was aged in French oak barriques, 50% of which were new, for 12 months followed by six months in bottle before release.
