Tasted Jan 2015 - From a single vineyard in Wilyabrup. Riper and a little more minty than the straight Oatley Margaret River Cabernet, with a touch of dark tannic char on the palate. The fruit still dominates. Long, dark-fruited finish and fine texture. (JH)

Web Only 2015 - Firm and chewy, with elevated acidity driving the ripe currant and vegetal flavors. Best after 2017. –HS

Hand-picked, berry-sorted, wild (1/3) and cultured yeast, open and closed fermentation, 21 days post-ferment maceration, 15 months in new and used French oak. This really has echoes of Bordeaux, particularly on the back-palate and finish, when the ripe, but firm, tannins mesh with the blackcurrant fruit so much so you're not sure where one stops to allow the other a chance to speak. Then throw in the French oak, and you simply have to let it all wash over you, relax and enjoy it.

Vinification Notes

Hand-harvested in order to select only the best fruits. Fermented using a wide range of yeast and the wine was matured for 15 months in partially new and old French oak barriques.
