It comes from Simonsberg fruit from the estate and it spends 16 months in oak with 20% new wood. It has a dense bouquet with quite opulent, mint-fresh blackberry and blueberry fruit. The palate is sweet and rounded on the entry with tarry black fruit, well-judged acidity and fine precision on the finish that displays impressive structure and sense of reserve. This is a competent debut, though I think there is better to come.
