A deep ruby red with violet reflections and intense aromas of blackcurrants and wild fruits, complemented by subtle notes of spice and thyme. A full-bodied wine, which is charmingly balanced, soft on the palate and full of the flavours of Southern Italy.
In 1962, 19 vine growers from San Marzano whose families had farmed the land for generations combined their efforts to establish 'Cantine San Marzano'. San Marzano is a small village in the centre of the Primitivo di Manduria DOC region in the Salento sub-region of Puglia, in the heel of Italy’s boot. Through the decades this cooperative has grown significantly, attracting over 1,200 vine growers. A temperature controlled maceration took place for approximately 10 days, followed by alcoholic fermentation with selected yeasts. The wine was aged in stainless steel tanks to preserve the purity of fruit.
