Wine tasting notes

Packed with varietal intensity, the nose has passion fruit, sweet pea flowers and a savoury nettle nose. The palate shows good entry and bright fruit concentration with wet stone mineral acidity running the length.

Apr 2016 - Lisa Perrotti-Brown - The 2015 Sauvignon Blanc offers lemon juice, gooseberries and fresh grass notes on the nose with a earthy / stony undercurrent. Light to medium-bodied, it has mouth-filling citrus and herbaceous flavors with a racy backbone and good length.

Sept '14 - Pale, bright yellow. Subdued but pure aromas of gooseberry, lemongrass and capsicum. Then supple and pliant in the mouth, but with sound acidity and sneaky intensity to the exotic flavors of green tropical fruits and crushed pepper. Finishes with very good breadth and aromatic persistence. -- Stephen Tanzer (2012)16 pts

Tasted Oct 2012 - Fresh capsicum aroma, matched on the palate but there's that sweetness on the finish that just undermines its clarity. Though much drier than many and persistent. (JH)

Tangy peach, melon and citrus flavors are vibrant and juicy, with lime zest details on the finish. Drink now.

Editor's Choice - From one of the Nelson region's pioneering winemakers, this is as good a wine as I can remember the Seifried family producing. The combination of subtle snow-pea and bold passion-fruit flavors is spot on, and the wine's ample weight, slightly creamy texture and long, grapefruity finish work together to create a harmonious whole.

Michael Cooper (2014)4 stars

This good-value wine has a fresh, strong, ripely herbaceous bouquet - there's no mistaking the grape variety. Full-bodied, it shows good intensity of tropical fruit and herbaceous flavours and is crisp, dry, and zesty."

Vinification Notes

Aromatic and fresh Sauvignon Blanc flavours were encouraged prior to vintage through careful canopy management. The fruit was de-stemmed and pressed immediately after harvest, and a cool fermentation was initiated in stainless steel tanks to retain the clean aromatic fruit characters.
