Wine tasting notes

There is a type of person for who neither hillsides nor nudity are enough - a type of person who needs rollerskates to enjoy these simple pleasures. Are you this type of person? Enjoy it fast and feisty with the wind through your everywhere. 750mls of thrills await! Inky purple. Brooding aromas of cassis, licorice and cocoa powder are lifted by a floral nuance. Fat, sweet and seamless, offering pliant dark fruit liqueur flavors and a touch of bitter chocolate. Finishes with smooth building tannins and very good length.

Some Young Punks

Some Young Punks epitomize the best of New Australia. The punks consist of Col McBryde (Guinness Book of World Record holder for most tattoos while holding multiple Ph.D's and voted Australia's Young Gun Winemaker of the Year), Jen Gardner (self confessed nerdy yeast expert) and thirdly Nic Bourke (Self proclaimed number one fan of Culture Club - google Nic Bourke and look at the pic in drag - and winemaker extraordinaire). Expert Reviews

Vinous/Antonio Galloni (2014)90 pts

Lurid violet color. Spicy, incisive scents of black and blue fruits and black pepper, along with an exotic suggestion of black cardamom. On the palate, juicy, sharply focused blackcurrant and bitter cherry flavors gain in depth and sweetness on the back half. Rich yet energetic wine with supple tannins and strong finishing thrust. -- Josh Raynolds

Fragrant white pepper and pomegranate notes are pure and juicy, with sage and herbal details on the sleek finish. Shiraz and Mataro.

Vinification Notes

This is an uber-serious wine coming from two distinct sites. The Shiraz from a dense red clay infested vineyard that has some rather gnarly vines. The yields are kept low and the quality is kept quite high. The Mataro from a light, free-draining site in the lower reaches of the Vale.
