Tinpot Hut

Since completing a Masters in Biological Chemistry Fiona Turner and has been immersed in the wine industry. Now, with well over 20 years of experience behind her, she is the owner and winemaker of Tinpot Hut wines, based in Marlborough at the northern tip of New Zealand's South Island. The grapes predominantly come from her own Blind River vineyards which she established in 2003, planted on the alluvial, free-draining soils of the Awatere Valley. The wines are known for their fine aromatics which express the pure characteristics of the grape variety, notably herbaceous Sauvignon Blancs and silky Pinot Noirs. The winery is named after an historic old tin mustering hut which was used as a shelter for musterers as they rounded up the sheep in the autumn that had been in the hills since the spring.
