Trapiche

The winery was founded in 1883 by Tiburico Benegas, who bought the property in Mendoza which already contained a small vineyard, and called his new acquisition El Trapiche, making it one of Argentina’s oldest wine producers. Trapiche stayed in the Benegas family until 1971. They are now the country’s largest exported premium wine brand and are owned by Group Peñaflor. Trapiche pioneered innovations like planting traditional French grape varieties, the use of French oak barrels, and micro-terroir wines. Trapiche are bio-dynamic producers, with vineyards encompassing more than 1,250 hectares. They source their exceptional grapes from a variety of extraordinary mountain vineyards throughout Mendoza, which enables a richness of diversity to be displayed in their extensive portfolio of unique and premium wines. Additionally they have a Second winery in the district of Chapadmalal, were the vineyards are planted just 6 kilometres inland from the Atlantic Ocean. Their Medalla was Argentina’s first premium wine, created to celebrate their 100 year anniversary. Of course Trapiche are Malbec specialists – they sell more of it worldwide than any other winery, and their Terroir Collection features some exquisite Malbecs. But they also produce a whole range of both red and white wines, with some classy Cabernet Sauvignons, Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays to name a few, in their iconic Italian renaissance inspired winery at the foot of the Andes, which is installed with state-of-the-art at technologies. Trapiche have garnered countless accolades, distinguished as “The Most Awarded Argentine Winery” by the WRW&S for the fourth year in a row, selected by Drinks International as among “The 50 Most Admired Wine Brands”, the only Argentinian winery to be bestowed with five of these selections and in 2019 they were hailed by Wine Enthusiast as “The New World Winery of the Year”. From their Oak Cask Collection to their Single Vineyard Bottlings, from mountain and ocean vineyards, Trapiche offers a wine for everyone and represent brilliant value!
