Food Matching

This is a great wine to drink on its own or it would fit well with Asian style food or fresh shellfish. New season’s asparagus or dishes featuring goat cheese would be sensational match.

Wine tasting notes

Gentle flavours and aromas of lime, citrus and nectarine compliment the distinct aroma of passionfruit. A mineral element gives presence to a Sancerre-like textural character in the wine. The fresh acid is balanced by a tiny amount of retained sweetness. A modest alcohol level is a big plus for this style of wine.

March 2016 - Lisa Perrotti-Brown - The 2014 Sauvignon Blanc has a sweaty, vegetal nose of musk, asparagus and pea pods with a core of ripe apples and gooseberries. Medium-bodied, it fills the mouth with tangy herbal laced flavors and has plenty of kick in the long, zesty finish.

Sept/Oct 2011 by Stephen Tanzer - Pale, bright yellow-straw color. Pungent aromas of gooseberry, passion fruit and lemon grass, with hints of orange blossom and thyme. Rich, silky and sweet, offering a mouthfilling blend of concentrated citrus, tropical and stone fruit flavors. Generous yet firm sauvignon with brisk acidity giving grip to the finish.

Issue Web Only 2012 - Peach, mango and hints of tropical notes are ripe, round and juicy, leading to a terrific core of fruit flavors and a mouthwatering finish. Drink now. 5,000 cases made. ?MW

This is one of the best releases of the Trinity Hill White Label (Hawke's Bay) sauvignon I've seen - plenty of vibrant tropical fruits and lime here. The palate's tangy and tart, quite dry, and delivers green mango and passionfruit flavour in zesty form.

Vinification Notes

2011 was a superb season for Sauvignon Blanc in Hawkes Bay. A warm and dry summer allowed the five carefully selected cool site vineyards to produce and retain the beautiful aromatic characters and acidity of perfectly ripe Hawkes Bay Sauvignon Blanc. Optimal vineyard management and attention to detail allowed the grapes to be harvested at a time when the flavour profiles were at their highest potential. The grapes were harvested over an extended time period which, when combined with the use of a range of vineyard sites, maximised the diversity of aroma and flavour. On arrival at the winery, the fruit was gently pressed to produce an elegant, fruit driven wine with low phenolics. The juice was cold settled for clarification and then cool fermented in stainless steel tanks to retain fresh fruit characters. The wine was bottled in June 2011.
