eRobertParker.com #197. Oct 2011. Reviewer : Lisa Perrotti-Brown. A co-fermented blend of 95% Syrah and 5% Viognier, the 2010 Hawke's Bay Syrah gives a deep garnet-purple color and notes of crushed blackberries, creme de cassis and licorice over hints of bacon fat, tar, damp loam and coffee grounds. Full bodied and concentrated on the palate, it has a good backbone of ripe tannins and crisp acid, finishing long and savory with a little black pepper coming through. Drink it now through 2015+.
