Wine tasting notes

Vibrant deep ruby-red in colour, this classic Aussie blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, offers a medium-bodied palate of luscious plums, boysenberries and blackcurrants with a touch of spice and eucalyptus. This rather complex wine finishes with fine tannins and just a touch of vanilla from subtle oak treatment

Expert reviews

Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (2010) - 91 pts

Dec 2011 - Lisa Perrotti-Brown - Deep garnet purple in color, the 2010 The Musician, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, gives well defined aromas of crushed black currants, wild blueberries and spiced blackberry preserves with hints of cinnamon stick, cloves, nutmeg and licorice. Medium to full bodied, it offers a good concentration of vibrant, juicy berry flavors with refreshing acidity and a medium level of chewy tannins. The finish is long and purely fruited.

James Halliday (2015) - 90 pts

High pitched red and black currant aromas are varnished with hints of liquorice and Australian scrub, as blue gum menthol notes streak across the grainy, mid-weighted palate. Vibrant, with real flow from beginning to graceful end, this elegant wine is ready to drink now.

Wine Front (2014) - 90 pts

July 2016 - Coonawarra cabernet and shiraz, fermented in both oak and stainless steel. Pure fruit flavour. It lays it on. It’s delicious. Blackcurrant and redcurrant, a spray of dried herbs, a slip of saucy vanilla, a gentle run of dusty tannin. The fruit purity here is glorious. It’s hugely drinkable as a result. Fresh as a daisy too.

Tyson Stelzer (2012) - 92 pts

A magnificent Musician and perpetually great value, this is a succulent and enticing blend of 60% cabernet sauvignon and 40% shiraz from Majella’s legendary Coonawarra vineyard. It’s immediately appealing in its berry compote and mixed spice flavours, supported by well integrated milk chocolate oak and fine, supple tannins.

Natalie McLean (2012) - 90 pts

Juicy and savoury with fleshy, lusciously ripe black plums and blackberry. This robust Australian red wine is a beautiful blend of Cabernet and Shiraz grapes. It's layered, rich and round. Pair with a rare steak.
