Rosé Wine

A Bouquet of Rosés
Rosé, Rosato, Rosado, Blush: wines that bring a twinkle to your eye and a promise of paradise
Picture a summer’s day and a glass of.........
ROSÉ - the very name conjures perfumed beauty, delicacy, romance and sunshine. From Provence to the Loire, to the Rosato of Northern Italy, the Rosado of Spain - and do give a nod to the dominance of Portugal’s Mateus Rosé just a few decades ago.  But let’s fly quickly over to California and ‘Blush’ with the best of White Zinfandel!  Still and sparkling, from the palest of pinks to salmon, peach and to an almost red, with many grape varieties and methods playing  a part in producing a good Rosé wine: Cinsault, Mourvèdre, Grenache, Gamay, Sancerre and Zinfandel to name but a few.  You could say Europe was the birthplace of Rosé but the rest of the world has caught up and there are some wonderful examples now, not only from the USA, but Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
Finally  -  the method: black-skinned grapes are crushed and the skins are allowed to remain in contact with the juice for a short period, typically two to twenty hours.
