Deep red in colour. Hints of blackberry and blackcurrants mix with spicy, balsamic notes on the nose. Great structure shines through in the mouth before a long, balsamic finish, and a persistent aftertaste.
Valentino Sciotti (of Vesevo, Gran Sasso and other Farnese estates) took over this small co-operative in Basilicata in Acerenza in the heart of the Aglianico del Vulture zone in 2008. Consultant winemaker Alberto Antonini, now works with talented young Dennis Verdicchia, and together they managed to capture the character of the grapes and the zone superbly in the bottle. Grapes are gently crushed and destemmed. The best grapes are then left to ferment in tanks made of fine french wood for about 5-6 months. The wine was aged in French oak barriques for about 15 months and then bottle aged for another 12 months.
