Wine Advocate Issue #203. Oct 2012. Reviewer : Neal Martin. Composed of 76% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Malbec, the 2010 Cellar Selection Hawkes Bay Merlot/ Cabernet Sauvignon was matured 18 months in French and American oak, 27% new. Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, it is scented of warm black plums, blackberry preserves and black cherries with touches of pencil lead, dusty earth and Indian spices. Medium bodied, it offers just enough black fruit concentration in the mouth supported by crisp acid and a medium to firm level of chewy tannins, finishing long. Drink it now to 2015+.
