Wine tasting notes

On release, the wine is a deep opaque red colour to the centre with ruby hues to the edges. There are lifted aromas of spice, plum, red berries and violets along with chocolate and subtle cigar-box characters from the oak maturation. The wine has a rich and mouth-filling palate with ripe dark berry fruit flavours, along with spice, chocolate and freshly roasted coffee characters. It is finely balanced with a linear acid line, grainy tannins, a warming finish and good persistence of flavour.

Wakefield Estate

Wakefield is a third generation family wine business and was founded in 1969 by Bill Taylor inspired by his love for the red wines of Bordeaux’s Medoc region. He was drawn to South Australia’s Clare Valley where his first 178 hectare vineyard was planted on the banks of the Wakefield River close to the village of Auburn. July 2015 - Lisa Perrotti-Brown - Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2013 Jaraman Shiraz opens to intense cassis, blackberry compote and licorice aromas infused with dark chocolate, espresso and loam aromas. Full-bodied, rich and concentrated, the balanced palate has nice freshness, firm, rounded tannins and a long finish.
