Wine tasting notes

This is twiggy, apple-skin, wet forest, marjoram and iodine; the palate is certainly electric but brazenly balanced

Selbach’s 2011 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spatlese exhibits site-typical apple and vanilla cream with stimulating candied lime peel and crystallized ginger accents and a slick of quince jelly and honey. Delicate, soothing yet exuberant, it carries its high residual sugar with aplomb and brings more than enough primary juiciness into a long, lip-smacking finish. Look for at least 15-20 years of delight.

Jan/Feb 07. By Joel B. Payne.  Pale yellow. Wild aromas of passion fruit, lemon candy and acacia blossom.Crisp raspberry fruit and a polished texture on the palate.A juicy, spicy, nicely structured kabinett with satisfying length.

Tight, with layers of mineral and slate that are closely packed and accented by notes of ripe peach, white cherry and Golden Delicious apple. Very spicy on the finish. Drink now through 2040.
