Bakestone Cellars

Bakestone Cellars is the second label of legendary Californian producer Cakebread Cellars. They were founded in the 1970's by Jack Cakebread in the Napa Valley in Northern California and released their first wine in 1973. They remain a family business. Bakestone is an interpretation of the Cakebread family's experience over four decades of wine-making; the Bakestone brand being a clever spin-off of the Cakebread name – the ancient name of Cakebread is derived from a name for a baker of fine bread, or the maker of cakebreade, bread made from flattened cakes. A bakestone is a flat piece of stone or iron that can be used for baking cakes, scones or tarts. For the Bakestone wines they select grapes from their premier cool Californian north-coast valley vineyards with the character and complexity that can be enhanced by French oak ageing and finish with an uplifting freshness. The signature of the brand is freshness, concentration and complexity.
