The Fattoria di Basciano estate is located in Tuscany, right in the heart of the Chianti Rufina region, perched on a hilltop overlooking the scenic landscape of the Argomenna Valley on one side, and the right bank of the Sieve River on the other. The Masi family have been making wine here since the beginning of the 20th century, now second and third generation run by Renzo Masi and his agronomist-winemaker son Paolo. 30 hectares of vineyards are planted at 300 metres above sea level on galestro soils – these rocky, schist based soils are found in most of the best vineyards of Tuscany. As well as their own vineyards Basciano also use grapes from selected growers in the region, selecting fruit from long-established vineyards with which Paolo has long-term relationships with the growers. Basciano produce excellent quality wines and are especially known for their ripe and juicy, wonderfully concentrated Chianti Rufina wines.
