Cantine San Marco

Cantine San Marco was founded in 1972 by Umberto Notarnicola and Bruno Violo in Frascati in the Lazio region of central Italy, a short distance from Rome. The winery stands on the San Marco hill, hence the name of the brand. Umberto hails from Puglia, and Bruno from Piedmont, but they shared a passion to produce mainly Frascati wine, the noted and historic white wine of the Lazio region. Today Umberto's son Danilo and Bruno's son Pietro work side by side with their fathers. The Frascati vineyards are found south of Rome in the Castelli Romani, Tusculum and Albani hills, planted on volcanic soils. Cantine San Marco are extremely environmentally conscious and every stage of the oenological process is carefully monitored to guarantee an impeccable level of quality, highlighting the main indigenous grapes of the Lazio region. They work with rarely seen varieties to produce innovative and exciting wines.
