The domaine was founded by Bernard and Pierrette Bonnard in the mid-1900's in the heart of Sancerre, not far from Chavignol, right in the centre of France. Today their two daughters: Claire, who is the winemaker and Martine, who is responsible for the viticulture, run the business. They produce white, rosé and red wines from the Sancerre appellation, and also Pouilly Fumé from vines which come from their grandparents vineyard in the hamlet of Les Loges. 13 hectares are under vine with Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir on prime vineyards sites, some planted on Kimmeridgian marls, and others on limestone pebbles known as caillottes. The Bonnard signature is crisp and elegant, mouthwatering vivacious and zesty wines, and they pair so well with the local Crottin de Chavignol cheese which has its very own AOC!
