Domaine du Barres
Saint-Chinian is one of the oldest wine producing areas of the Languedoc-Roussillon region of southern France. It is located between Minervois and Faugères, and here the Mediterranean sunshine ripens the grapes to perfection. The land has formed a unique terroir over millennia, and is split into two distinct types by the Orb and Vernazobres Rivers, with schist in the north-west of the region, and clay and limestone in the south-east. Roughly 90% of the production is red, with Syrah, Grenache Noir, Lledoner Pelut, Mourvedre, Cinsault and Carignan under vine, and Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, Roussanne and Rolle for the rare whites. From this fascinating region Domaine du Barres wines offer tremendous value for money!
