Alain Gayrel comes from a 300 year old winemaking family with a vineyard in Gaillac in south-west France that dates back to Roman times. His grandfather bought the estate from the Vigné-Lourac family in 1900. The enterprising Gayrel rescued the local cooperative from the brink of bankruptcy and bought the Cave de Gaillac in 1997. Although he spends time there making good wines, his passion is producing quality Gaillac and Côtes du Tarn wines at his own estate, Domaine Vigné-Lourac. These are wines with a lot of personality and represent credible value for money!
