Wine tasting notes

Clear, pure colour with glints of purple. The nose is complex and intense, presenting fresh red fruit with ripe raspberries and tart berries such as redcurrants. With aeration, more complexity develops with roasted notes of cocoa, complemented by an elegant touch of mocha. The palate offers a smooth, round attack, followed by well-balanced, pleasantly dense tannins. This balance ensures a tight structure and good length as in the 2017 vintage.

Expert reviews

Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (2017) - 90 pts

Composed of 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Franc, the medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2017 Blason de l'Evangile features expressive notes of crushed black cherries, mulberries and plum preserves with touches of kirsch, dark chocolate, lavender and cloves. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers great density and loads of floral sparks among the dark fruits, framed by fine-grained tannins and bold freshness, finishing long and fragrant.

James Suckling (2017) - 93 pts

A very rich array of darker berries and plums on the nose with some sous-bois notes. There’s such attractively intense chocolate and dark-cherry flavors on the palate. Super fine tannins. Some baking spices, too. Very integrated and balanced with sustained freshness and a long finish. Second wine of Chateau L’Evangile. Drink or hold.
