Wine tasting notes

Volume and richness are the distinctive notes of this generous Malbec. On the nose, it offers a wide range of subtle aromas, such as violet, blueberry and black fruits, which are combined with elegant notes of black pepper, graphite, smoke and mineral flavours. Great concentration and tannin sweetness provide a lingering aftertaste.

Food matching

Malbec, whose traditional home is in the Cahors region of south-west France, has found an exciting new identity in Argentina as a rich, fruity and intense wine that is a great match for a range of robust and deeply flavoured foods. Master Sommelier Vincent Gasnier, in his excellent book How to Choose Wine claims that its perfect partner is roast rack of lamb with herbs. Malcolm Gluck and Mark Hix, in their book The Simple Art of Marrying Food and Wine, suggest a caramelised onion and goat's cheese tart - perfect for vegetarians! Try it with hearty stews, game and roasts, but avoid fish, shellfish and creamy sauces. It works well with cheese and is an interesting choice for a barbecue.
