Following the success of Finca Allende, Miguel Angel de Gregorio founded his second estate in Rioja Alta in 2004, this time in Navarrete, calling it Finca Nueva because it was his newest winery. This second enterprise is his “Vinos Divertidos” or “Fun Wines” project; fresh, enjoyable and pocket-friendly wines, reflecting the region’s styles and grades, but still made adhering to Miguel's philosophy of creativity, and to his discerning quality standards. With the success of the brand Miguel needed to expand, and in 2014 acquired Bodegas Bretón in Navarrete. This was the winery of which he had been Director when he was barely 25 years old and for which had achieved international recognition . Now it became the headquarters for Finca Nueva – and things had come full circle! The Finca Nueva wines are made according to the traditional ageing classification system of Rioja, so you will find a Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva that are aged exclusively in French oak barriques in the portfolio. They are made with solely indigenous Riojan grape varieties but in a modern, approachable way. The grapes are sourced from various villages on the right bank of the Ebro River, covering 96 hectares of sustainably farmed vines, planted in close proximity to the river on north-facing slopes on calcareous-clay and gravel soils. Miguel is one of the world's most celebrated winemakers, and at Finca Nueva he crafts wines that are a new image of Rioja - quality at affordable prices!
