Finca Nueva is the second Rioja winery project of Miguel Ángel de Gregorio of Finca Allende fame. Miguel likes to refer to these wines as 'Vinos Divertidos' or 'fun wines' and they are made with more creative freedom in mind and in a fresh, approachable style though never compromising on high quality.
Finca Nueva cultivates 96 ha of vineyards on calcareous-clay and gravel soils, situated on the right bank of the Ebro river in Rioja. All vineyards are all north-facing in order to fully benefit from Atlantic influence. Unlike Finca Allende, which eschews the use of the traditional Rioja quality categories based on ageing, Finca Nueva makes a red Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva. What remains the same, however, is the use of exclusively French barriques. The style is modern and fresh, elegant and easy-drinking.
