Idaia Winery

Idaia Winery was founded in 1998 by knowledgeable oenologists Vasilis Laderos and Kalliope Volitaki. Idaia is situated in Venerato, an enthralling little village on the sunny island of Crete, nestled right in the Middle of the Malevizi province vineyard, in the Dafnes appellation of central Crete. They are a family winery who own 2.5 hectares of their own vineyards, but also source grapes from several growers in the Dafnes PDO with whom they have long standing relationships. Idaia specialise in the indigenous grape varieties of Crete. They aim to showcase their wines to reflect the terroir on which the grapes are grown, mainly cultivating the white Thrapsathiri, Vilana and Vidiano, and the red Kotsifali, Liatiko and Mandilaria. These unusual wines are true expressions of Crete. They have strong personalities, just like the island they originate from – if you are looking for something a little out of the ordinary, look no further!
