Wine tasting notes

Everything about this fabulous wine is dark! From the deep, aubergine-purple hue, to the complex nose unfolding with blackberries and blackcurrants. Then on to the luscious flavours of black fruits coming in waves on the juicy palate with nuances of fruitcake and vanilla from the integrated oak. Rich and intense, the flagship wine of this revered producer

Delicious with red meats and cheese.

Expert reviews

Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (2013) - 89 pts

Aug 2015 - Lisa Perrotti-Brown - Deep garnet/purple, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon opens to a very minty, eucalyptus-laced nose over cassis, crushed blueberries and cedar. Full-bodied, concentrated and ripe, the palate is exuberant and finishes long.

James Halliday (2013) - 95 pts

Bright, deep crimson; there is nothing half-hearted about this wine, rather it is a pure evocation of cool grown cabernet, its texture and structure allowing cassis and mulberry fruit, and contrasting touches of black olive, free play, tannin and oak in the backdrop. Seriously attractive.

Wine Front (2013) - 93 pts

Balance is the key with this latest release of Majella Cabernet Sauvignon. It has things just right. Black fruit, dusty tannin, creamy oak, mint and olive-like notes. It’s dark and sensuous, feels smooth on the tongue, but it also presents a fresh face to the world. Tannin is folded in, seamlessly. Everything here is in a good place.

Natalie McLean (2013) - 92 pts

Black plums and cassis on the nose with violets and spice on the palate along with a mouth-filling richness. Full-bodied and intense with a mouth-watering juiciness for meat dishes.
