Wine tasting notes

A complex, plush yet stately wine, with all the characteristic Cabernet notes of a savoury nature with nuances of blackberries and vanilla with just a hint of hedgerow. A svelte yet seductive palate with depth and length, layers of fruit with a core of fine tannins and balance that will reward long term cellaring.

Expert reviews

Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (2013) - 89 pts

Mar 2016 - Lisa Perrotti-Brown - Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon has a core of red currants and blackberries with hints of Mediterranean herbs, underbrush and loam. Medium-bodied and elegantly fruited in the mouth, it has a solid backbone of firm, chewy tannins and lively acid, finishing long and youthful.

Vinous/Antonio Galloni (2012) - 91 pts

Jul/Aug '14 by Josh Raynolds - Opaque ruby. Fresh cherry, blackcurrant and lavender on the perfumed nose, with a peppery note adding vibrancy. Silky and sweet, offering sharply focused dark berry flavors and suggestions of spicecake and licorice. A smoky quality appears on the finish, which is firmed by dusty, mounting tannins. Surprisingly approachable now, but this sleek cab has the depth and structure to age.

JancisRobinson.com (2009) - 16 pts

Tasted Sept 2011 - Mid to dark crimson. Well melded nose. A little tart but firm and correct. It just won’t make that many friends. A bit reserved.

Wine Spectator (2012) - 90 pts

Lithe, focused, dark and spicy, exhibiting flavors of blackberry and dark plum at the center, shaded with floral and peppery notes. Lingers with intensity.

Wine Enthusiast (2008) - 89 pts

Toasty oak frames dark, earthy flavors in this Cabernet from Western Australia. Despite being medium to full in body, it turns crisp on the finish, an enjoyable contradiction highlighted by tart plum notes and hints of tapenade. Drink now–2018. — J.C. (7/1/2012)

James Halliday (2013) - 94 pts

True blue cabernet style, savoury dried herbs immediately asserting their place alongside the cassis fruit, cabernet tannins doing exactly what is expected of them as they simultaneously dry off and lengthen the finish.

Wine Front (2014) - 92 pts

Cedar, black currants, bay leaf, mint and clove aromas. Cool, medium weighted and savoury feeling. Good depth of flaour, sinewy tannins, transparent feel and finesse. Lovely feel in palate, almost silky, dusted in spice and web of tannins. Yeah.
