The Ponte Pietra brand is made by Cantina di Monteforte, a cooperative which was founded in 1952 in the province of Vincenza in north-east Italy. They now work with 600 winemakers across the Veneto farming 1,200 hectares of vines. The wines are made by renowned winemaker Matt Thomson, who follows the philosophy that wine quality is a direct result of using good grapes, letting the quality of the fruit shine in the finished wines with as little intervention as possible. Ponte Pietra means “Stone Bridge” in Italian, and the brand is named after Verona's oldest bridge, the famous Ponte Pietra that has spanned the River Adige River since Roman times – you will see it depicted on the wine labels. These expressive easy drinking, fruit-driven wines and are astounding value!
