The estate was established in 1999 when Franc Rocca and his family converted a former cow paddock into a winery and called it Rockland Estate. They are located in the Barossa Valley in South Australia where Franc has his own vineyards under vine, from which he makes wine in his state-of-the art winery, supplemented by fruit from contract-grown grapes. The family's European origins show in their easy-going nature. They believe that good wine is made with passion, heart and soul, and this is reflected in their approachable Chocolate Box wines. The inspiration for the range, which Franc first launched in 2008, came from his wish to be able to enjoy a premium full-bodied Barossa Valley red wine, watching a good film with his favourite chocolate. The Chocolate Box range has become iconic, with their eye-catching, instantly recognisable vintage-inspired labels.
