Alsace has always held a special place in Michel Chapoutier's heart, particularly because of the mineral subtlety of wines from the region. Schieferkopf is a joint-venture between Michel Chapoutier and a group of wine-loving friends, based around a 5 hectare Domaine in Bernardvill̩ where unique blueschist soil gives poise and austerity to the wines.
In common with all Chapoutier estates, the domaine is managed under organic and bio-dynamic principles in order to best express this terrior. The tight range of wines from Shieferkopf includes Sylvaner, Riesling and Gewurztraminer, with two top end S̩lections Parcellaires Rieslings.
