Union Wine Co.

The Union Wine Company was founded by Ryan Harms in 2005. Ryan was born in Wisconsin, and grew up in Upstate New York. He worked his first harvest in Oregon in 1997 and just fell in love with the state and with wine. After finishing college he worked in a corporate office for two years but moved to Oregon full time in 2001, embracing the state's spirit and passion for craftsmanship. Ryan worked for some notable wine companies but he could not accept that wine produced in Oregon needed to be expensive and so he created Union with the ethos of being able to share quality wine with friends and family that was accessible and pocket-friendly. The name was chosen to honour and bring together the diversity, spirit and character of Oregon; everything Ryan loves about the state. Ryan heads a young innovative team, based in an urban winery just outside Portland. By being efficient about everything: the winery set up, making the wines and concentrating on the important details whilst eschewing any fuss, Union were able to remove unnecessary expense and extravagance and successfully marry craft and small-scale manufacturing to produce quality wines without sacrificing quality. Union source high quality fruit from Oregon's best growers and offer three ranges of wine. Underwood is an approachable easy-drinking range crafted from fruit sourced across the the diverse vineyards and regions that Oregon offers. Kings Ridge grapes come from the heart of the Willamette Valley, characterised by the unique flavours found in its hills and valleys. Top of the pyramid is The Alchemist, sourced from the very best, and Union's favourite, Willamette Valley vineyards. Union's wines are inspiring and wine brings people together, whether it be over a meal, or celebrations big or small – wine unites!
