Wine tasting notes

Yellow with greenish reflections and very good colour. A clean wine, with plenty of aromatic intensity, fresh and mineral. On the nose it is floral and citric with notes of syrup. It reminds me of white flowers and fruits, like lemon blossom and peaches. On the palate, it has a soft start, a good persistence, unctuous with balanced acidity, round with good concentration.

Expert reviews

Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (2016) - 90 pts

Dec 2016  Reviewer : Luis Gutierrez - The just-bottled, screw-capped 2016 Felino Chardonnay was quite impressive. It's now produced exclusively with grapes grown in the Valle de Uco and was cropped from an unusual wet and cold growing season. It fermented with indigenous yeasts with full malolactic, with 15% of the volume put into neutral French oak barrels and bottled seven months after the harvest. It's very fresh and varietal, with a nose that mixes white flowers and fruit and a balsamic twist. The palate is fresh and sharp, elegant with very clean flavors, showcasing the minerality of the soils. Is this the finest Felino Chardonnay to date?

Vinous/Antonio Galloni (2015) - 87 pts

Mar 2016 - Bright yellow. Stone fruits, spices and smoky oak on the nose. Fat, full and sweet; a very rich, broad, ripe style of Chardonnay with yellow stone fruit and tropical fruits flavors dominating. A bit more exotic than the 2014 version, but finishes with slightly edgy acidity. -- Stephen Tanzer

JancisRobinson.com (2014) - 15.5 pts

Fresh, clean, direct California Chardonnay nose. Pretty sweet on the end, so no great aims at complexity but at least it seems to have decent balance.

Wine Spectator (2013) - 86 pts

A plush and spicy white, with plenty of buttery accents to the ripe apple and pear sauce flavors. The finish is taut, showing some savory overtones. Drink now.

James Suckling (2015) - 92 pts

A bright and fresh white with sliced apple, pineapple, and salt. Full body, tangy finish. Minerally and stony undertone. Stainless driven. Screw cap. Drink now.

Wine Enthusiast (2015) - 90 pts

Crafted in a New World way, this displays toasty, creamy oak and baked apple aromas. The palate is healthy and bold, while flavors of popcorn, white bread, butter, honeydew and banana maintain freshness and clarity across the finish.
