Waddesdon Rothschild Collection

The Waddesdon Rothschild Collection was established to jointly represent the three wine producing branches of the Rothschild family within the UK: Domaines Barons Rothschild Lafite, Edmond de Rothschild and Baron Philippe de Rothschild. The backdrop to the collection is the magnificent 19th century Waddesdon Manor (now a National Trust property) in Buckinghamshire, built in the style of a French Renaissance Château of the Loire by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild. It was designed by the French architect Gabriel-Hippolyte Destailleur and completed in 1883. In 1890 a passenger lift was installed for a visit by Queen Victoria, but she declined to use it as she didn't trust the new phenomenon of electricity! The wine cellars, modelled on the private cellar of Château Lafite Rothschild, were created in 1994 to celebrate the Rothschild family's association with some of the finest wines in the world. They store a historical collection of more than 15,000 bottles - the largest collection of Rothschild wines in the world. New vintages are added every year; wine from exceptional harvests can be enjoyed for up to 100 years! T hey have now expanded to include other prestigious family-owned estates from around the world, all of which share the same vision – to produce the very best wines while remaining family run and true to their heritage and traditions.
The unparalleled portfolio features some fabulous wines, but you don't have to break the bank to enjoy them, their collection from the Languedoc offer outstanding value, with rather lovely labels, and all the quality you would associate with the name of Rothschild.
