Wine tasting notes

A combination of aromas reminiscent of anise, ripe red fruits, and spices, with hints of chocolate and tobacco acquired during the time spent in French oak barrels. A structured, full bodied wine, with rounded tannins which result in a persistent finish.

Luis Gutierrez The 2009 Pasionado Cabernet Franc nose has a strong herbaceous strike with notes of asparagus and currant leaf intermixed with ripe red and black fruit and a pinch of allspice. The medium to full-bodied palate shows plenty of tannins, good acidity and persistent flavors, sustained by its powerful alcohol. A big, powerful, leafy Cabernet Franc, slightly too green for me. Drink now-2017.

Mar 2013 by Stephen Tanzer - Medium red. Dark berries and licorice on the nose, plus a rather intrusive green pepper note. Then densely packed and sweet in the mouth, with a more subtle pepper element adding complexity to the black fruit and fresh herb flavors. This idiosyncratic yet suavely made wine needs time in bottle to come into harmony, but its juicy finishing lift suggests it will reward patience.

Tomato, red bell pepper, plum and currant aromas have a slightly sharp, varietal-related minty, green angle. This feels round and creamy on the tongue, with good acidity propping up flavors of baked berries, spice, chocolate, raw oak and vanilla. A medium-length finish with baking spice flavors confirms the wine?s power.
