Wine tasting notes

Characteristic intense red colour, with violet shades. Complex aromas of ripe red fruits, and sweet notes of violets. Oak aging gives the wine delicate hints of vanilla and tobacco, with a touch of chocolate. A structured, full bodied wine, with rounded sweet tannins, and aromatic notes that linger, giving a long lasting finish.

Bright medium ruby. Blackberry, bitter chocolate and violet on the nose. A step up in texture and refinement from the Altitud Malbec, showing enticing floral lift to its dark berry flavors. Displays a firm backbone of acidity and tannins without any dryness or hardness. Lovely grain and restrained sweetness here. This nicely balanced wine boasts good concentration and sneaky length. -- Stephen Tanzer

Lots of dried berry and mineral aromas with hints of stone. Full body, velvety tannins and a long and flavorful finish. Stylish. Drink now.

Cool, earthy, rooty aromas of licorice, Graham cracker, cassis and blackberry are dark and brooding. This Malbec is loosely structured, with heavy extraction and blackened, gritty flavors of blackberry and toast. A dark, rubbery, blocky finish is giant like the rest of the wine. Drink through 2022.

The top Malbec at Andeluna (at least for now) is wonderfully fragrant and full of personality. It’s a big, bold wine showing masses of blackberry and liquorice notes, underpinned by the chalky acidity that’s such a strong feature of Gualtallary reds. The oak is increasingly subtle on these wines. 2017-23
