Wine tasting notes

Dark crimson with outlines of shimmering red. Marked with explosions of red fruit, including cassis and sour cherries. Further recognised for its spicy nose, with traces of white pepper, dry fruit and walnuts. Mature, expansive and corpulent, highly concentrated and unctuous. Developed sweet and soft tannins emerge from layers of fruit to form a persistent finish. A wine which will develop its character over ten years.

Winery Information

Terrazas de los Andes

Terrazas de los Andes was founded in 1999, in the heart of Mendoza, a renowned winemaking region in the west of Argentina, on an estate where the first ungrafted vines were planted in 1929. It takes its name from the “terrazas”, a series of terraced plateaus at the foot of the Andes mountain range, scattered over altitudes ranging from 600 to 1,500 meters. On these terraces, each of the grape varieties – malbec, cabernet sauvignon, torrentés and chardonnay – are planted at optimum.. read more

Aug 2016 - Luis Gutierrez - 2014 was a tough year for Cabernet, and the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva from Terrazas de los Ándes shows strong herbal aromas and a lighter palate than normal, reflecting the natural conditions of the vintage. I'd consider this a triumph over the adverse year. One for the short term.

Mar '14 - Stephen Tanzer - Bright, saturated ruby-red. Dark berries, black cherry, menthol, licorice and sexy oak spices on the subdued but complex nose (I might have guessed malbec). Intensely flavored, supple and fine-grained, with lovely inner-mouth lift and incipient complexity to its dark berry and spicecake flavors. Finishes with suave, broad tannins and refreshing peppery lift. This sophisticated cabernet is still very young.

A broad-textured red, with mocha notes to the roasted plum and dark cherry flavors. Dried mint and sage details show midpalate. The finish lingers with plenty of dark chocolate accents

James Suckling (2014)93 pts

A fresh and clean red with blueberry and blackberry. Medium to full body, fine tannins and a crisp finish. A delicate and pretty red. Excellent value.

Tasted en primeur at the winery, this stylish Cabernet Sauvignon hails from Perdriel and Eugenio Bustos. It’s aromatic and fine, with polished tannins, bright acidity and classic notes of cassis, cut grass and graphite. It’s tempting to see a French touch here, given LVMH’s ownership. 2017-24
