Wine tasting notes

Brilliant medium ruby with a fresh, fruity nose, aromatic with hints of red currants and black cherry; medium-bodied, round with soft tannins and ripe berry flavours supported by refreshing palate-lifting acidity. A stylish and elegant wine rather than full-bodied and muscular.

Oct 2014 - Listed as both “Blauburgunder” in German and “Pinot Nero” in Italian, the 2012 Alto Adige Pinot Nero is a fine expression of the grape, stripped down to the bare essences of the varietal. The wine shows a healthy degree of inner brightness and luminosity with fresh forest fruit, blue flower, bitter almond paste and moist chewing tobacco. It is aged in the simplest manner in stainless steel and cement.

Dried cherry, smoky speck and rose petal notes offer an aromatic mix in this well-balanced red, with fine, light tannins and juicy acidity. Drink now through 2018.

James Suckling (2016)88 pts

A fresh and simple pinot that shows cranberries, citrus and herbs. The palate is pretty if a little tart and lacking in structure. Drink now.

Subdued aromas convey strawberry with a whiff of green tomato. The palate offers crushed cherry, raspberry, oregano and black olive, while lithe tannins provide the framework. It closes on a tart note of rhubarb.
