Wine tasting notes

A lovely, brilliant crimson color. A very earthy Nuits nose with some vanilla bean, too. On the palate, smoky, velvettextured fruit without any tannin, but acids take their place, so the wine is nicely balanced. Not heavy, but a very elegant Pinot expression at the end.

Wine Advocate #2109. Dec 2013. Reviewer : Neal Martin - The 2012 Nuits Saint Georges Villages comes from nine separate parcels scattered around the appellation that together makes 1.70 hectares. It has a fragrant, floral bouquet with red currant and raspberry leaf. The palate is very refined with supple red cherries and red currant fruit, leading to a delicate, simple but pure, lithe finish. This constitutes fine, early drinking Nuits Saint Georges.

The 2012 Nuits St. Georges is utterly exquisite. Sweet floral and spice notes lift out of the glass, followed by a host of blue/black fruits, spices, mint and licorice. The flavors are classic Nuits but the villages is surprisingly weightless, aromatic and polished. I especially like the freshness of the finish. -- Antonio Galloni

Tasted Jan 2014 - Light cherry red. A bit stinkily reductive (unracked) – classic Gouges. Dry and savoury and refined tannins. Needs air and time. (JH)

Mild reduction renders the nose difficult to assess. There is more depth, weight and punch to the detailed and solidly well-concentrated medium-bodied flavors that exhibit good balance on the appealingly persistent finish. This is sufficiently tender on the mid-palate to permit early drinking yet it has the clear potential for aging.
